The Credit Union Foundation is looking for a new independent trustee to help us to develop and take forward the next phase of our strategy.
Candidates with skills and experience in charitable sector fundraising and / or strategic communications are particularly welcome to apply.
The Credit Union Foundation (CUF) is dedicated to improving the lives of the people of the UK through supporting the development and operation of strong credit unions and promoting awareness of them among the general public.
Current initiatives include a 12-month personal professional development programme for young credit union professionals, an oral history and heritage project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the Development Education Programme which provides credit union staff and volunteers with a greater understanding of the ethos and culture of the sector. Between 2014 and 2020, the Foundation delivered a major grant funding programme for credit unions, administering £6m of support from Lloyds Banking Group.
The CUF Trustee Board is a welcoming group with a range of skills and backgrounds. It is made up of representatives of the main trade association for credit unions, ABCUL, and of independent trustees and is chaired by Lord Roy Kennedy of Southwark. Trustees meet four times a year in Manchester with the option to attend online. Reasonable out of pocket expenses are payable.
